IllustraBoard is an educational as well as business piece of software, which constitutes a multimedia board for presentations of any kind.
The software seems to be very simple and clear. There is a presentation window, which is screen-sized, and the instrument panel aside it.
The drawback I noticed first of all – is that all the instruments do not have legends, and you are able to find out what the tool is for only after clicking and applying a given option. It is not convenient, as the pictures on the panel don’t clearly represent the essence of the tools from the first glance. Though, after trying all of them you easily remember what each of the tools for.
Moreover, there is a tutorial that points at and briefly explains the purpose of each instrument.
The software is almost packed with all the instruments that might be necessary for any presentation. Apart from a common cursor that may be of different colors, there is a board pad, that doesn’t differ from the screen-sized presentation window in any way (only in size) – the same functions are available: such as color selector, text tool and others.
There is a screen-capture tool; flw and swf players, which is a great add-in for the presentation software, as it is very convenient to easily click on the button from within the same program and present a piece of video. And you needn't open other multimedia tools.
There are also illustrations that may be at hand during presentations – such as different markers and even thematic illustrations – math and sport related.
On the whole, the program is thoughtfully created and considers various aspects that might be useful for presentations. Though, it freezes at times, and the separate windows can not be closed when trying to, for unclear reason, that for me was very irritating. You can not minimize/maximize the program windows through the task bar or the title bar, instead, there is a special little button to do this, that is not something an average user is used to.
