Record and produce music tracks on your Mac. Use virtual piano, organ, guitar, drums, and bass tools. Plug an electric guitar into your Mac and play via classic amps. Capture audio and enhance the sound with various filters, like reverb, echo, and distortion, correct the pitch, or apply the Auto-Tune effect. Master your skills with pre-recorded guitar and piano lessons that show finger and musical notations.

The 10.4.8 version of GarageBand for Mac was available to download on the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this app available. This free Mac application was originally created by Apple Inc.

The application is included in Audio & Video Tools. We recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus. The program is also known as "GarageBand 9", "GarageBand 2", "Garage Band". The latest version of GarageBand can be installed on Mac OS X 10.9 or later. The most popular versions among the application users are 10.0, 6.0 and 5.1.

From the developer:

Flex Time and Groove Matching are powerful tools that help you improve the rhythm and feel of your recordings. You can fix the timing of a note. Tighten the groove of your tracks. And easily create a great-sounding song.
With 22 new genre-based lessons (40 in all), you can pick up the basics of piano, guitar, or even both. Video demonstrations, synchronized notation, and instrument animations make lessons fun and easy to follow.

You may want to check out more software for Mac, such as MIDI Guitar For Garageband, Chords Compass or MidiEcho, which might be related to GarageBand.
