The 1.0 version of unetbootin for Mac was available to download on the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this app available. The following version: 1.0 is the most frequently downloaded one by the program users. The application lies within System Tools, more precisely CD & DVD Software. We recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus. This free software for Mac OS X was originally produced by Arpad, Geza Kovacs.
From the developer:
UNetbootin allows you to create bootable Live USB drives for Ubuntu, Fedora, and other Linux distributions without burning a CD. It runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. You can either let UNetbootin download one of the many distributions supported out-of-the-box for you, or supply your own Linux .iso file if you've already downloaded one or your preferred distribution isn't on the list.
You may want to check out more Mac applications, such as Max by sbooth, DiscLabel or Dragon Burn, which might be related to unetbootin.
