Description
Download of WipeFS 2.1 for Mac was on the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this app available. This software for Mac OS X was originally designed by Jonathan Clark. The most popular version of WipeFS for Mac is 1.0.
This application can be installed on Mac OS X 10.7 or later. WipeFS for Mac lies within System Tools, more precisely General. The unique identifier for this program's bundle is com.macappstuff.WipeFS. According to the results of the Google Safe Browsing check, the developer's site is safe. Despite this, we recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus software.
From the developer:
WipeFS erases unused space on hard disks, USB flash drives etc, to prevent the recovery of deleted files. Any data which still resides in that unused space, albeit marked 'free', can be properly and securely deleted by overwriting it. As you may know, simply deleting a file does not actually delete the content of the file.
You may want to check out more Mac applications, such as Display Rotation Menu, DockFun! or APM, which might be similar to WipeFS.
