XeTeX is designed to provide a tool particularly suited to formatting long, structured documents, and supporting multilingual typesetting and complex non-Roman scripts.
It merges the TeX typesetting system developed by Donald E. Knuth with the Unicode rendering capabilities of ATSUI and AAT fonts on Mac OS X.
