From the developer:
iMessage lets you send messages to anyone on a Mac, or an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 5. Messages appear on your Mac and any device you use, so you can start a conversation in one place and continue it on another device. Send photos, videos, documents, and contacts - even send messages to a group. Messages also supports traditional instant messaging services such as AIM, Yahoo!, Google Talk, and Jabber.
You may want to check out more Mac applications, such as OLK14 Message Recovery, Remove Duplicate Messages or Message+, which might be similar to Messages.
