Monitor and track stolen Mac devices. If a theft occurs, the unique Undercover ID of the Mac is reported to the server, triggering the recovery process. The app sends the device's current location, screenshots, and helps law enforcement in locating the stolen Mac. If recovery fails, the software prompts the thief to sell or repair the device by simulating hardware issues. The new user is alerted about the stolen status, and the software takes over the computer's screen to facilitate the return process while rendering the computer unusable.
The 6.6 version of Undercover for Mac was available to download on the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this app available. Undercover routinely checks with the Undercover server. In case of theft, the Mac's unique Undercover ID is added to the list on the Undercover server, initiating the recovery process. During the recovery phase, Undercover transmits its current location on the internet, enabling the Undercover team to identify the computer's exact physical location.
