smcFanControl ... Control the fans of every Intel Mac to make it run cooler.
smcFanControl lets the user set the minimum speed of the build in fans. So you can increase your minimum fan speed to make your Intel Mac run cooler. However in order not to damage your machines smcFanControl doesn't let you set a minimum speed to a value below Apple's defaults.

I've used SMC on my macs since 2011. I bought my first new computer, It lasted over 10 years, much in thanks to SMC Fan Control. I believe that toasty hot Mac aluminium laptop life was extended and cooled with SMC. I used this App on every computer I've had since then. I am sure I made a donation at least once and will again soon.
If anyone can help me, My question is...
I don't understand why we have to select one of 3 ODD, HDD, CPU.
It seems the 3 a get the speeds I select in the slide no matter what of the 3 are selected in the circular check "boxes".
Am I missing something? or does it matter?
I have Imac 2010 & 2008 both OS X 10.11.6.
And SMC 2.6 - 2016 is the latest version.
