Description

PCsim is a great tool for those interested in simulating large scale networks of spiking point neurons. The integration of the neural circuit simulator with data analysis and visualization tools makes it easy to manage the full neural modeling life cycle. The ability to work with both Python and C++ content is an added bonus. Highly recommended for those interested in neural modeling and simulation.

Downloading PCsim 0.5 from the developer's website was possible when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this software available. The actual developer of the free program is lsm.tugraz. PCsim lies within Development Tools, more precisely IDE.

The program's installer file is generally known as PcSim.exe. We cannot guarantee that the program is safe to download as it will be downloaded from the developer's website. Before launching the program, check it with any free antivirus software. The following versions: 1.7 and 0.5 are the most frequently downloaded ones by the program users.

From the developer:

PCSIM is a tool for simulating heterogeneous networks composed of different model neurons and synapses. This simulator is written in C with a primary interface to the programming language Python.

It is intended to simulate networks containing up to millions of neurons and on the order of billions of synapses. This is achieved by distributing the network over different nodes of a computing cluster by using MPI.

You may want to check out more software, such as GnuWin32: LibIconv, SpinnerDemo or FrameDemo2, which might be similar to PCsim.
