ProWeave version 6.1, developed by Cameron Fibre Arts, stands out as an exceptional tool in the Photo & Graphics category, specifically under Viewers & Editors. The software's latest version, labeled 6.1, promises a myriad of advanced features that cater to a wide array of weaving enthusiasts, from beginners to professional artists. The installation file, proweave.exe, is compact with a size of just 1.5 MB, making it a quick and efficient download.

The tool's significant assets include the ability to open multiple workspaces with multiple drafts in each and a comprehensive twill database boasting over 10 million weave drafts. This robust database, paired with features like auto-repeat, draft blending, moire patterning, and float counting on multi-colored drawdowns, ensures that weaving projects are not only detailed but also precise. Additionally, the program includes functionalities to view and manipulate weave structures, including multi-layered ones, and to nudge drafts or objects seamlessly using the arrow keys.

With compatibility spanning Windows XP, 7, 8, 10, and 11, ProWeave ensures that a broad user base can take advantage of its features. Other notable abilities are the instant updates of drawdown, the facility to turn drafts, and the inclusion of plain weave picks to any structure, making it a versatile and indispensable tool for every weaver's toolkit. The free trial of ProWeave is definitely a bonus for those looking to explore complete crafting tools without any initial investment.

Pros:

  1. Extensive twill database with over 10 million weave drafts.
  2. Various advanced tools for draft manipulation and viewing.
  3. Compact program size ensures quick and efficient download.
  4. Support for multiple Windows OS versions ensures wide usability.
  5. Free trial version available for users to test the software before purchasing.

Cons:

  1. The specific nature of the software means it is tailored mainly for weaving enthusiasts.
  2. The interface might seem overwhelming initially due to its extensive features.
  3. Regular updates or new features might be less frequent given the niche market.

Overall, ProWeave version 6.1 by Cameron Fibre Arts proves to be an indispensable tool for anyone serious about weaving, combining comprehensive features with a user-friendly approach.

This has the potential to be a very good program, but is no longer supported and desperately needs an upgrade. I found that working on my current PC, the resolution is much higher than this program provides. I was always working with a near invisible dot to do much of the design work. Hoping that someone will upgrade this and make it user friendly. Another downside, is that the tutorials are in private groups and nothing is online for people to learn to use the program.
