See-and-Type
Description
The latest version of See-and-Type is 5.6.4, developed by AUREOSOFT. This program falls under the Education category and specifically the Teaching Tools subcategory. See-and-Type is a series of virtual keyboard models that assist users in entering text using a mouse rather than a conventional keyboard. This is particularly useful for individuals with visual impairments or motor difficulties.
There are three distinct models tailored for different needs: Standard, Compact, and UltraCompact. The Standard and Compact models cater to people with low vision acuity, while the UltraCompact model is designed for those with motor impairments.
One of the standout features is its use of a colorful visual scheme for easy text key viewing. For example, vowels are displayed on a green background and placed on the left side of the panel, while consonants appear in yellow and orange backgrounds. The Tab, Space, Backspace, and Enter keys have a black background, and punctuation marks are set against a white background. This arrangement helps in improving viewing and minimizing errors.
For downloading, the program can be easily found by searching for "see-and-type.exe". Multiple versions have been released, including version 5.6, but enthusiasts and new users can download the free latest version 5.6.4.
This program is useful for teaching children new words interactively and pleasantly during their initial vocabulary acquisition steps. By simply typing the text and clicking the button with a red background on the upper right-side of the keyboard panel, users can copy the entire text to the clipboard.
Pros:
- Free download available.
- Assists users with visual and motor impairments.
- User-friendly and colorful interface.
- Benefits educational and learning processes, especially for children.
Cons:
- Limited to a virtual keyboard setup; may not cater to all user preferences with hardware keyboards.
- Learning curve for users unfamiliar with mouse-based typing applications.
You may want to check out more software, such as Whizlabs PMP, Al Bunny's Typing Class or RhymeTime5, which might be similar to See-and-Type.
