WD SmartWare
Description
Create backups of your media files and store your photos, music, and movies on external hard drives, including USB sticks and SD cards. Schedule backups for specific events, e.g. When your PC becomes idle, or configure automatic backups at a specific time.
WD SmartWare stands out as a robust System Utilities program, specifically designed for Backup & Restore needs. Developed by Western Digital, this software targets users who need efficient and reliable backup solutions for their photos, music, videos, and data files. The latest version, 2.4.21, offers an array of functionalities that ensure data safety and ease of use.
The software automatically backs up your important files to an external hard drive. Users have the flexibility to schedule backups either for when the system is idle or opt for an automatic and continuous backup. This feature is incredibly useful for those who don't want to worry about manually saving new or modified files. Importantly, the key to maximizing its benefits is to manage the program via the main executables: WDSmartWare.exe, BackupTask.exe, Unlock.exe, WD SmartWare.exe, and WDBackupEngine.exe.
Supporting a broad range of operating systems including Windows 2000, Windows XP, XP Professional, Vista, 7, 8, 10, and 11, the software makes it versatile for users with different Windows versions. The installation file is fairly compact at 40 MB, making it a quick download for most users. Even with earlier versions like 2.4, 2.3, and 2.2, the core functionality remains dependable.
Western Digital has always been reliable in creating software focused on data integrity, and WD SmartWare is no exception. The program not only provides a convenient and automated backup solution but also ensures data recovery is straightforward if the need arises. It’s these capabilities that make it a must-have tool in the Backup & Restore subcategory.

Win 7 machine will not back up large files. Does not see my Cloud often yet, this can be seen on the network/My Computer. XP SP3 machine backs up one backup replacing each time.
