PostGIS 2.0 could be downloaded from the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this software available. This PC software works fine with 32-bit versions of Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10/11.
The following versions: 2.0, 1.5 and 1.4 are the most frequently downloaded ones by the program users. This free tool was originally developed by Refractions Research. The software lies within Development Tools, more precisely Database Tools. We recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus.
From the developer:
PostGIS is unique software that adds support for geographic objects to the PostgreSQL object-relational database.
In effect, PostGIS "spatially enables" the PostgreSQL server, allowing it to be used as a back-end spatial database for geographic information systems (GIS), much like ESRI's SDE or Oracle's Spatial extension.
You may want to check out more software, such as gshp2pgsql, Thuban or ST-Links SpatialKit, which might be similar to PostGIS.
