Slic3r 1.3 could be downloaded from the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this software available. Slic3r.exe is the frequent file name to indicate the Slic3r installer.
The following versions: 1.3, 1.2 and 1.1 are the most frequently downloaded ones by the program users. According to the results of the Google Safe Browsing check, the developer's site is safe. Despite this, we recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus software. The software is included in System Utilities. This free software is a product of Alessandro Ranellucci.

Slic3r is the tool you need to convert a 3D model into printing instructions for your 3D printer. It cuts the model into horizontal slices (layers), generates toolpaths to fill them and calculates the amount of material to be extruded. It is totally open source and it's independent from any commercial company or printer manufacturer.
You may want to check out more software, such as Repetier-Host, which might be similar to Slic3r.
