AKVIS Coloriage is a plug-in that lets you experiment with the colors in your photos: you can add color to black and white photos or make color photos change colors.
The program allows you to achieve interesting results with both originally black and white photos and color photos. You just have to make brush strokes drawing outlines within the objects close to their boundaries using colors that you want to apply there. When you apply colors to an image, you can indicate some parts of it that you would like to remain untouched and preserve their original colors. Drawing lines precisely over the boundaries is not obligatory because borders are recognized by the program automatically. If your image has too many details that are supposed to be of different colors, it will take time to draw all the necessary outlines. However, the program interface is quite simple and you will manage the tools easily.
In fact, AKVIS Coloriage can be used for various purposes. You can colorize scanned black and white photos or hand sketch drawings, or turn black and white abstract images into colorful backgrounds. Or, vice versa, turn color images into black and white or desaturate only some parts of them. Besides, you can change colors in your color photos, for example making your cat’s hair pink or green. You can select any color from the Colors Palette, but if you need natural-looking colors it is convenient to select them from the Color Library where they are sorted into categories such as Skin, Hair, Lips, Grass, Sky etc.
