Description

The CD Reader is a great tool for restoring access to content from damaged or corrupted discs. It has a great set of features that make it easy to configure the target disk, priority, retry number, and auto skip file count. It also has a nice feature that allows you to set the default output folder, priority, retrying number, language, and enable auto log clearing. All in all, this is a great tool for anyone needing to repair or recover data from damaged discs.

Download of CD Reader 2.0.0005 was on the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this software available. The most popular versions among the program users are 2.0, 1.0 and 0.8.

The program lies within System Utilities, more precisely Backup & Restore. Commonly, this program's installer has the following filenames: CD Reader.exe, CdReader.exe and CD_Reader.exe etc.

According to the results of the Google Safe Browsing check, the developer's site is safe. Despite this, we recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus software. This free software is a product of Ali Evren Küt. You can set up this free PC software on Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10/11 32-bit.

From the developer:

CD Reader is open-source software for recovering data from corrupted CDs and DVDs. This simple tool accurately recovers both individual files and full discs that your disc drive finds difficult to read due to scratches or other damages in the disc surface.

You may want to check out more software, such as One-click CD Ripper, CD Eject Tool or CD To WMA Converter, which might be similar to CD Reader.

This is EXACTLY what I needed! However, not sure if I'm doing something wrong -- the 'program' seems to read the CD contents, but when pressing the 'Copy Selected Files' button, nothing seems to be happening. . . help? :-(

I've tried several other software out there and this one's the 1st that actually read the contents of the CD I'm trying to salvage files from. (It was created on an OLD machine back in 2006 & for some reason, none of my current computers will 'read' the CD although it's confirmed (now) that there are files on it!) If anyone knows of any other software like this one that actually works for recovering files from a CD-ROM, let me know, please.
