Description

View chess matches in a list sorted by opening, players' names or tournaments. Provide data about game tables and generate tournaments cross them. The provided tournament tables will have complete graphic statistics for all the players involved and for openings.

The latest version of ChessBase is 16.16, and it continues to be one of the best personal, stand-alone chess databases out there. Developed by ChessBase GmbH, this program is a go-to for chess enthusiasts who want to elevate their game. Users can download it for Windows XP, XP Professional, Vista, 7, 8, 10, and 11, with compatibility for file extensions like ".cbf", ".cbh", and ".cbv". Whether using CBase11.exe, CBase10.exe, CBase12.exe, C8.exe, or ChessBaseAdminTool.exe, ChessBase provides a seamless experience.

Among the highlights for those searching for a robust chess database program, ChessBase offers features such as retrieving games based on openings, players, and tournaments. Additionally, it allows you to generate tournament cross tables and full graphic statistics of players or openings. The "similarity search" feature is particularly unique, showing all games with similar pawn structures, sacrifice patterns, and endgame positions, which is crucial for deep analysis.

While there are older versions like 14.0, 13.0, and 12.2, the improvements and updates in version 16.16 make it worth considering. Being categorized under Games and specifically Board, the program remains unparalleled in its niche.

For those looking to download a powerful, free tool to improve their game, there might be limited options in this space, but the ChessBase platform undoubtedly sets a high standard.

Pros:

  • Excellent retrieval features based on various parameters.
  • Comprehensive statistical graphics.
  • Unique similarity search for game analysis.

Cons:

  • Lacks a completely free version.
  • May have a steep learning curve for beginners.

Overall, ChessBase 16.16 is a superb option for anyone serious about chess, providing powerful tools and a wide range of supported specifications.

I have my original copy of ChessBase and I tried to install it via Virtual Box on (Linux system) which ran the Windows XP 32-bit version. It would not install. The message was that cb6 was not a Windows XP application.
