Flutter is an innovative free application developed by BotSquare Inc. that lets users control music and movies through hand gestures. The latest version, 3.24, is now available for download. It works seamlessly with your computer's webcam and supports various popular media players, including VLC, iTunes, Windows Media Player, and Spotify, providing users with a novel way to interact with their media. Once you install the app, it hides discreetly in the taskbar, and operating it is as simple as a quick hand gesture in front of the webcam.

Flutter, categorized under System Utilities and subcategorized as Device Assistants, is supported on Windows Vista, 7, 8, 10, and 11. It harnesses the webcam to detect gestures to control media playback. While the application supports basic play and pause functions, it currently lacks more advanced gesture controls like volume adjustment or track skipping, which limits its functionality. However, it integrates well with other big-name players like Netflix, YouTube, Grooveshark, and Pandora when using a Chrome extension.

Despite its exciting potential, this alpha version does come with some initial drawbacks. One of the primary issues encountered is the inconsistency in gesture recognition, making it sporadic in practical use. For now, many gestures aren't recognized reliably, affecting the overall user experience.
