The latest version, 9.2.4, offers an intuitive experience whether you're a beginner or a seasoned learner. The program files, KochMorseTrainer.exe, and Koch.exe, are designed to facilitate a smooth learning process using the proven Koch method. Developed by G4FON Software, this Morse trainer runs seamlessly on various Windows versions, including Windows XP, XP Professional, Vista, 7, 8, 10, and 11.
This education program falls under the subcategory of teaching tools, making it suitable for both personal and academic use. Notably, G4FON Koch Method Morse Trainer is distributed as freeware. Users can easily download and install the software without any cost. Additionally, it has a history of stable releases, including other versions like 9.2, 9.1, and 8.1.
The unique feature of the Koch method is its focus on copying random groups of characters rather than fixed-length groups. This helps ease the transition to actual words by mimicking the rhythm and "feel" of real text. As users advance, they start copying sample QSOs, the format used in amateur tests, which trains them to recognize callsigns, locations, and numerals—frequent elements in exam questions.

I have a friend with a Mac laptop who is interested in learning Morse. A couple of years ago I would have told him to run this app using WINE but Apple killed that by dropping support for 32-bit apps. Right now I set him up to run this app using Windows on a USB stick. Does anyone have a better idea?
