Create simulations of precipitation-runoff processes of dendritic watershed systems. Solve different kinds of hydrological issues by tweaking various geographic areas parameters. Input collected data, manage specifications, analyze the impact of urbanization, and perform calculations of the hydrologic response in a watershed.

You can download HEC-HMS 4.9 from our software library for free. Also the program is known as "HEC-HMS Beta". Our antivirus analysis shows that this download is malware free. This free program was originally developed by Hydrologic Engineering Center.

The current setup file available for download requires 135.3 MB of hard disk space. The program's installer files are commonly found as HEC-HMS.exe or hms.exe etc. The most popular versions among HEC-HMS users are 4.5, 4.2 and 4.1. You can execute this free PC software on Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10/11 32-bit. The program lies within Education Tools, more precisely Science Tools.

From the developer:

The Hydrologic Modeling System ( HEC-HMS ) is designed to simulate the complete hydrologic processes of dendritic watershed systems. The software includes many traditional hydrologic analysis procedures such as event infiltration, unit hydrographs, and hydrologic routing. HEC-HMS also includes procedures necessary for continuous simulation including evapo-transpiration, snowmelt, and soil moisture accounting.

You may want to check out more software, such as MathPlayer, Legacy or ERDAS IMAGINE, which might be similar to HEC-HMS.

Amazing software, but if you're looking for a highly advanced version of this, do consider GeoHECHMS by CivilGEO. It is by far the best HEC HMS software that we have been using for stormwater modeling software.
