JFileRecovery
Description
JFileRecovery 6.0.110.3 was available to download from the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this software available. The program's installer files are generally known as javaws.exe or Recovery2.exe etc.
According to the results of the Google Safe Browsing check, the developer's site is safe. Despite this, we recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus software. JFileRecovery is included in System Utilities. The following versions: 6.0 and 0.9 are the most frequently downloaded ones by the program users. This software was originally created by Michael Gardiner.
From the developer:
JFileRecovery is a Java application that can copy files from damaged storage devices and media, skipping over problematic regions that typically cause copying to fail. If the file is listed, there is a good chance that JFileRecovery can salvage much of the data with minimal corruption. For many media files such as MP3, MPEG, AVI and JPEG, corruption is often not even noticeable.
You may want to check out more software, such as iUnformat, vRanger Professional or ICQ Password Recovery 2005, which might be similar to JFileRecovery.
