Description
KeePass Password Safe is an outstanding free download for anyone looking to enhance their digital security. Developed by Dominik Reichl, this powerful Security program, which falls under the Privacy subcategory, offers a secure and convenient way to manage passwords. The latest version 2.57 is available, ensuring that users have access to the most recent updates and features.
Compatible with a wide range of operating systems, KeePass works seamlessly on Windows XP, XP Professional, Vista, 7, 8, 10, and 11. This versatility makes it accessible to a broad user base. The program supports multiple file extensions, including .kdb and .kdbx, ensuring comprehensive functionality for different database formats.
KeePass Password Safe boasts a variety of aliases, such as KeePass Password Safe Alpha, KeePass Password Safe versie, and KeePass Password Safe Beta, which illustrates its extensive development and community engagement. In addition to the latest version, earlier iterations like 2.4, 2.3, and 2.2 also remain available, providing options for users with varying needs.
The program's executable files include KeePass.exe, Icon7EFB3531.exe, wscript.exe, ShInstUtil.exe, and runas.exe, each serving specific functions to support the smooth operation of KeePass.
A standout feature of KeePass is its use of advanced encryption algorithms—AES-256, ChaCha20, and Twofish—to ensure that user data is robustly protected. The database is secured with a master key, simplifying user access management by requiring only one password to unlock all stored credentials.
Pros:
- Free download, making it highly accessible
- Supports advanced encryption for superior security
- Compatible with a broad range of Windows versions
- Multiple aliases reflect its versatile functionality and community support
Cons:
- Steeper learning curve for less tech-savvy users
- Reliance on a single master key, which if forgotten, can lock out the user completely
Overall, KeePass Password Safe remains a leading choice for anyone in need of a reliable password manager, combining comprehensive security features with user-friendly operation.

LOVE KP it up to the 1.37 version when they did away any user setting their own FONT sizes. Which is on the verge of being discriminatory toward the "seeing impaired!" I mean I still use KeePass but can't keep up with the more secured versions, because 1. I don't like squinting 2. hate the Need to use a on screen magnifier. 3. Notice that they don't care, in any way shape or form, about the "hard to see" no matter what age! I'd give them a 5 STAR Rating UP to version 1.37, and the Keepass Android.... but ZERO star rating after that version.
TOP program, it has never failed for years; easy to use and lots of little tweaks to make it tighter.
Very useful program, use it for a long time
