New Video Joiner
Review
While the quality of videos distributed on multiple CDs tends to be quite decent, having to manage several files for just a single film is truly frustrating. Even after you have spent minutes copying all the discs to your hard drive, and set up a nice playlist in your video player not to be interrupted in the middle of your pastime, you will still most likely be grumbling at annoying gaps between files or the audibly mismatching volume. 'New Video Joiner' is aimed at relieving you from these disappointments.
This programme is designed more like a video converter, rather than just a joiner. When provided with a list of source files (possibly of different formats or frame rates), this utility will require you to choose the desired output format (AVI, MPEG, WMV, DVD, VCD or Super VideoCD) and set some resizing options - this is all you have to do to get a neat single file for your favourite film.
Besides making the resulting files smaller, however, this conversion feature also makes the whole process rather protracted, as compared to actually merging files. Moreover, you do not practically get to adjust many options before you perform a conversion: the only things to choose are video and audio codecs, which cannot even be fine-tuned, and the frame rate. Still, after a couple of hours and spoilt videos, you will be able to come up with good enough settings to give this programme a try.
