RansomAway prevents the Petia Ransomware from attacking. It has been discovered that the Petya Ransomware checks for a read-only file and if it finds it, it won't run the encryption side of the software. One of the ways to fight Ransomware is to 'immune' a PC against it. That is what RansomAway does. This tool creates a dummy read only file by that name that makes Petia think the PC was already being attacked.
