This impressive Space Invaders remake, the RetroVaders is a freeware game as well. It's a great-to-play "tribute" to Space Invaders, released for Linux, Windows and MacOS X.
In case anyone hasn't ever played space invaders before (anyone?) the game is played as follows: shoot the aliens before they reach the bottom of the screen.
You may want to check out more software, such as Ta-Ta Mahatta, ButterflyHunt or Pixel Chix Desktop, which might be similar to RetroVaders.
