The flag of Russia consists of three equal horizontal bands whose colors are white on top, blue in the middle and red on the bottom. The flag became official in 1896, except for a new one during the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, which was discarded in 1991 and the old flag was re-adopted.
