SRNS
Description
SRNS, the latest version being 1.8, is a specialized computer model for predicting the nutrient requirements of sheep and evaluating feed biological values on farms. This innovative program is structured around the Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System (CNCPS) for Sheep, designed through a collaborative effort among Texas A&M University, Cornell University, and Sassari University.
The program boasts a comprehensive basis for its predictions, taking into account numerous animal and environmental factors. These include body weight (BW), age, insulation, movement, milk production and composition, body reserves, mature weight, pregnancy, current and previous temperature, wind, and rainfall. It estimates nutrient requirements for energy, protein, calcium, and phosphorus with a high degree of accuracy.
Users can easily download the SRNS model for use in the Home & Hobby category, under the Healthcare & Fitness subcategory. The primary file is named SRNS.exe. While the program is currently available as a Demo, its robust features ensure it remains a valuable tool for those involved in sheep farming and nutritional research.
The predictions for feed biological values hinge on carbohydrate and protein fractions and their ruminal fermentation and passage rates. Additionally, microbial growth and physically effective fiber are key metrics within the model.
Pros:
- Highly detailed predictions based on a wide range of animal and environmental factors.
- Developed through collaborative research from prestigious universities.
- Available for free download in demo form.
