Enchant 1.6 was available as a free download on our software library. The most popular versions among the software users are 1.6 and 1.4. The software lies within Multimedia Tools, more precisely Editors & Converters. This free program is an intellectual property of AbiSource.
From the developer:
Enchant appears to be a generic spell checking library. You can request dictionaries from it, ask if a word is correctly spelled, get corrections for a misspelled word, etc.
Enchant does not use pipes to talk with command line programs. Enchant is a full-fledged library, with a C and C API. Its communication with its various backends happens via "virtual function calls", or at least the C equivalent thereof.
You may want to check out more software, such as Enchanted Forest, Enchanted Cavern 2 or Enchanted Katya and the Mystery of the Lost Wizard, which might be similar to Enchant.
