Mauve 2.4.0 was available to download from the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this software available. This free software was originally developed by the Darling lab.
The latest version of the software can be downloaded for PCs running Windows XP/Vista/7/10/XP Professional/8/11, both 32 and 64-bit. The default filenames for the program's installer are javaw.exe, mauve.exe or notepad.exe etc. The software belongs to Education Tools. We recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus. The most popular versions among Mauve users are 2.4, 2.3 and 2.2.

Mauve is a system for constructing multiple genome alignments in the presence of large-scale evolutionary events such as rearrangement and inversion. Mauve has been developed with the idea that a multiple genome aligner should require only modest computational resources. Multiple genome alignments provide a basis for research into comparative genomics and the study of genome-wide evolutionary dynamics.
