Avast Free Mac Security
Description
Enable three shields for on-demand scanning and protection. The Web Shield and Mail Shield ensure incoming data from the Internet is secure, while the File Shield scans all programs on your hard drive. The brand new GUI includes WebRep clients for Safari, Chrome, and Firefox browsers.
Avast Free Mac Security 2016 was available to download from the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this app available. This free software for Mac OS X was originally created by AVAST Software.
According to the results of the Google Safe Browsing check, the developer's site is safe. Despite this, we recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus software. The program lies within Security Tools, more precisely Personal Security.
From the developer:
Avast Mac Security (formerly Avast Free Antivirus for Mac) offers three shields, on-demand scanning and WebRep clients which are automatically (optionally) installed to Safari, Chrome and Firefox browsers. Our Web Shield and Mail Shield combine to check the vast majority of incoming data from the Internet, while File Shield scans all programs stored and executed from your hard drive. Everything is packed in a brand new GUI.
You may want to check out more Mac applications, such as Avast Passwords, Security Gateway Desktop Free or Wi-Free, which might be similar to Avast Free Mac Security.
