FUS++
Download of FUS++ 0.1.2 for Mac was on the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this app available. The software lies within System Tools, more precisely System Optimization. This free Mac application is a product of FUS++.

FUS++ is a set of enhancements to Apple's Fast User Switching. Its primary purpose is to replace the bulky, screen-wasting menu item that Apple provides with a more compact one. It can currently be configured to show either a small version of your user picture, your short username, or, like Apple's implementation, the long username.
You may want to check out more software for Mac, such as Fuse-xfs, FUSE for OS X or SplitFuse, which might be similar to FUS++.
