JavE 5.0 for Mac was available to download from the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this app available. The most popular version of the software is 5.0. The software is included in System Tools. We recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus. This free Mac application was originally developed by Markus Gebhard. The file size of the latest installer available is 1.6 MB.

JavE is a free Ascii Editor. Rather than for editing texts, it is intended for drawing simple diagrams by using Ascii characters.
It is like a graphics editor for editing texts instead of images
JavE is written in 100% pure Java and so should run on almost every operating system.
It is a standalone application and not available as applet.
