OpenOffice 4.1.3 for Mac was available to download from the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this app available. This free program was developed to work on Mac OS X 10.7.0 or later. The application is categorized as Productivity Tools.

The following versions: 4.1, 4.0 and 3.4 were the most frequently downloaded ones by the program users. Apache_openoffice_4.1.1_ma.dmg, apache_openoffice_4.0.0_ma.dmg or OOo_3.3.0_MacOS_x86_instal.dmg are the default file names to indicate the OpenOffice installer.

This free Mac application was originally created by OpenOffice.org Education Project. According to the results of the Google Safe Browsing check, the developer's site is safe. Despite this, we recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus software.

From the developer:

OpenOffice is the leading open-source office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and more. It is available in many languages and works on all common computers. It stores all your data in an international open standard format and can also read and write files from other common office software packages. It can be downloaded and used completely free of charge for any purpose.

You may want to check out more Mac applications, such as OpenOffice.org Calc, OpenOffice.org Draw or OpenOffice.org Impress, which might be similar to OpenOffice.
