This handy solution for macOS allows you to rip tracks from a CD using various encoders without changing your iTunes Import Settings. Your original encoder preference will stay the same. You can also choose to copy the ripped tracks to a new playlist.

This script applet lets you rip all tracks or a selection of tracks from a CD using your choice of available encoders without having to change your iTunes Import Settings. Your original preferred encoder will remain set after running the script. You can optionally copy the just-ripped tracks to a new playlist as well.
