Apple iMac DVD-ROM 1.0 Updater places new firmware on the DVD-ROM shipped in iMac DV and iMac DV Special Edition computers. This update improves the ability of iMac DV models to read certain CD-ROM discs and to determine if a disc is unreadable.
Certain CD-ROM discs are created in a way that makes them difficult to read. Some iMac DV and iMac DV Special Edition computers will try to read these discs for a very long time.
