Ernie is an application for composing musical scores using the popular ABC notation. You have to type up a tune in ABC, save your file, and then press any of the 3 displayed buttons, PDF, MIDI, and Transpose. The PDF button generates a PDF sheet music file, the MIDI button generates a MIDI file, while the Transpose button lets you raise or lower the key by up to 12 semitones (a full octave).
