An e-book reader available for Unix/Windows computers, that supports formats like oeb, epub, and fb2, with plans to add more in the future. It can also read directly from zip, tar, and gzip archives. Both FBReader and FBReaderJ are distributed under the GNU GPL license.
Download of FBReader 2.1.5 for Mac was available from the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this app available. This free Mac application was originally created by The FBReader Team. The software lies within Productivity Tools, more precisely E-book Tools. We recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus.
From the developer:
FBReader is an e-book reader for Unix/Windows computers.
FBReaderJ is an e-book reader for the Android platform. It is a clone of the FBReader book reader written in Java. FBReaderJ was partially written as a student project at Academy of Modern Software Engineering (the project was done by Olga Melanich, Marina Sokol, Eugene Vlasov and Grigory Yaroslavtsev).
You may want to check out more software for Mac, such as Chmox, which might be similar to FBReader.
