From the developer:
Hotline consists of two parts, one is the client, which connects to a remote server, and a server which provides information to the client.
When used with the Hotline server, this client allows users to chat, transfer files, and read news on an Internet / intranet like service.
You may want to check out more software for Mac, such as Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number or Hotline Miami, which might be related to Hotline.
