Download of Secret Socks 1.0.2 for Mac was on the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this app available. This free Mac application was originally designed by nihilex. We recommend checking the downloaded files with any free antivirus. The program is included in Security Tools.
From the developer:
This is a front-end graphical interface for using SSH as a secure SOCKS proxy, on Mac OS X. It is meant mainly for users who don't like using the command line.
Online proxies are a useful way to get around restrictive firewalls that block you from accessing parts of the internet. Maybe your corporate environment has rules against accessing sites like GMail from work, and you need to find out what time to pick up your kids after work.
You may want to check out more software for Mac, such as FishDog Socks, Sort the Socks or Hello Tips, Tricks & Secrets, which might be similar to Secret Socks.
