VocabTest

VocabTest is intended for English learners of any level.
The software may be useful for studying and learning by heart new vocabulary units.

There are word sets intended for studying included into the software. You can also add your own vocabulary set and download it to the program support site for other uses.

The program contains a few modes for checking your vocabulary knowledge, such as test mode, review and recall - where you have a possibility to check you vocabulary knowledge either by definition or the lexical unit itself.

There is also auto progress test, where you can also set a time limit, number of questions etc.

I could also spot the feature that may come in handy, such as 'hot list', where you can add any words or phrases that are difficult to remember or something else.

On the whole, I didn't find the program useful as, first of all, it is very time-consuming to include the vocabulary necessary for learning into the software manually. Moreover, I didn't find learning the vocabulary with this tool useful, as you can do practically the same with an ordinary list of paper, where you can hide either the definition of a given word or a lexical unit from your eyes.

There was an annoying thing I faced in the program – if you click on the word set that is empty, a run-time error occurs, and the program shuts down after clicking "ok".

Also I could hardly find some features indicated on the 'support' site, for example, flash-cards and highlight, which, in my opinion, are of not much use.

At the end of the day, I would say that the program is not user-friendly at all, as you always have to refer to the 'support' and read it very attentively that takes time and is annoying, while, to my mind, the program of that kind should have made the process of learning quicker and more comfortable.
